Educating Property Owners Through Social Media

With the variety of mold and IAQ projects we have experienced, people will benefit from the information posted. Helping our clients return their properties to a healthy environment is the most rewarding aspect of the industry.

Providing Resources to Clients With Mold-Related Health Concerns

At Madison Taylor Indoor Environmental, we connect our clients with medical professionals through our list of mold exposure resources. We actively seek local healthcare specialists who offer services that may benefit people with mold-related health concerns.

Our team also welcomes individuals who have had illnesses related to elevated indoor mold exposures and are willing to share their stories on our resource page.

Many clients have reported illnesses that they believe were directly related to exposure to elevated levels of mold. As an IAQ professional, we have seen numerous heartbreaking cases. We have consulted many families with infants and children on a nebulizer and with serious respiratory conditions – also adults with headaches, dizzy spells, brain fog, hives, and other debilitating conditions. Some clients have suffered for years before finally finding a doctor or medical professional that could provide the proper treatment for their condition. We want to help find the cause and recommend inspecting their home or building for indoor air quality problems.

Many customers reported a noticeable health improvement once their home or building was properly diagnosed, abated, and returned to normal fungal ecology. However, some believed their mold exposure has lingering health effects.

Hundreds of clients each year contact us in search of medical professionals who can understand the symptoms related to their mold exposure and help regain their health. We aim to create a comprehensive mold resource page to help assist our clients in finding professionals, information, and resources related to their health concerns.

Supporting the New DC Mold Laws and Assisting Families With Mold Problems

The new District of Columbia Mold Assessment and Remediation Regulations specifies requirements for mold testing and mold removal for D.C. homeowners. Our company supports the new D.C. mold laws and offers mold testing and mold removal services in the metro area.

The new mold law in the District of Columbia is a good thing. It will ensure that qualified people are properly advising home and building owners about their mold problems and that remediation is done with industry-standard techniques.

Our company provides mold testing and remediation services for both residential and commercial projects. We work with large corporations and building owners assuring good indoor air quality before, during, and after the construction of occupied buildings. The bulk of work provided by our company, however, is for homeowners and homebuyers seeking mold inspection services.

Assisted Virginia Family With Their Mold Case

We have worked as a witness for a family in Virginia that had purchased a mold-contaminated home. The buyers of the mold-infested home were concerned because while the home was under construction, several water events occurred in the structure leading to a fear of water damage and mold issues.

We’ve done an inspection and revealed mold was growing behind the walls of the new home, and the indoor air quality was negatively impacted by the contamination. Our team has provided a detailed scope of work describing the location of the mold, cause of mold contamination, levels of airborne mold spores, potential toxigenic concerns, and the process to decontaminate the home properly.

The homebuyer provided the mold report to the builder as part of the buyer-seller inspection contingency. The builder responded to the report by hiring a company neither certified nor qualified to accomplish the remediation recommendations, leading to improper mold remediation of the home.

The purchasers, who were lead to believe that the home had been properly remediated by the builder, moved forward with closing and unknowingly became the proud owners of a brand-new home with significant mold conditions. As the new owners of the property, the client had the home reinspected and retested as a precaution before having their furnishings and personal contents delivered to the dwelling. The inspection uncovered more visible mold behind walls, ceilings, and floors. The new lab report confirmed that in an attempt to resolve the mold conditions with an unqualified subcontractor, the builder made the indoor air quality of the home much worse.

The client could not immediately move into their new home because of the mold contamination. They had to incur many costs to remedy and restore a newly built home that they thought was safe to purchase and occupy.

Madison Taylor Indoor Environmental has had hundreds of cases like this one. When homes are under construction, many of them are flooded by rains before the completion of the roof and/or proper drainage for the basement. If the structure is not properly dried before the home is finished, these water events will lead to the occurrence of mold contamination. We have helped in this client’s case against their builder to recover damages incurred and return the home to normal fungal ecology.

Our Community Involvement

Everything that we do for the communities we serve is grounded in our firm’s belief that giving back is simply the right thing to do. Over the years, we have supported the following organizations and foundations:

Willing Warriors is a foundation that provides cost-free retreat stays and non-medical services that positively affect the recovery of wounded, ill, or injured service members.

Fabretto’s mission is to empower underserved children and their families in Nicaragua to reach their full potential, improve their livelihoods, and take advantage of economic opportunity through education.

Madison Taylor Indoor Environmental is a strong supporter of local school sports programs. Children that have the opportunity to participate in school sports programs are exposed to many of the social and emotional benefits sports can bring, including intangible benefits to the school and community as a whole. Sports also create important opportunities for students to contribute to the school community, which may cultivate an increased commitment to, or identification with, school and school values. Studies have found that advantages of sports include: weight control, problem-solving skills, self-esteem, social competence, and academic achievement. Sports can lead to reduced rates of juvenile arrests, teen pregnancies, and school dropouts.

In 2004, our owner’s family had discovered that their daughter Madison had a heart defect called Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). They consulted with a local cardiologist who was recommended by their pediatrician. The Cardiologist informed them that their four-year-old daughter would require open-heart surgery to repair the defect. This news was terrifying, and it took a while for them to wrap their minds around the thought of their little girl having to go through such a serious surgery. They followed the advice of friends and sought a second opinion from Dr. Ruckman with Children’s Hospital. After a thorough examination, Dr. Ruckman confirmed that there was a heart defect, but recommended a minimally invasive procedure to patch the hole in their daughter’s heart. A few months later, a catheter-delivered device called an Amplatzer Septal Occluder was positioned in Madison’s heart and closed the hole.

Children’s Hospital performed a miracle for Madison, and we are very grateful. Though we have met many families who have had similar experiences as ours, we have been surprised how many families are unaware of the amazing options and care provided by Children’s Hospital. If you have any questions about our experience, please feel free to contact us by phone or email.

We are excited and grateful to be able to work with the Children’s Hospital Foundation to make a difference. Whether you choose to use our services or not, we hope you would consider donating to the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
